April 2024
Welcome Spring! As much as pollen is a nuisance, it is important for plant reproduction. A pollinator carries pollen produced from the anther (male part of flower) and then inadvertently leaves that pollen on the stigma (female part of the flower). This flower will then produce fruit and seed. If this did not take place, our world would look very different. Some people say that taking a tablespoon of local honey each day helps with seasonal allergies.
The Board has been busy doing their jobs while being good stewards of our dues. Our Treasurer has been busy preparing our 2024-2025 budget, the men’s Spring/Summer tennis team has begun, Grounds and Maintenance has worked on the playground equipment by making repairs, overseeing the landscape maintenance of our common areas and working with the pool company in getting the pool ready to open in May. You may see the cover off and furniture out, this does not mean that the pool is open. The pool does not officially open until May 15, 2024!
Now is the time to reserve the party pool room or clubhouse before the dates fill up! The party pool room does have a refrigerator/freezer available so that you don’t have to have a cooler for your event. It also has tables and chairs.

To: All Winship Farms Homeowners
The Winship Farms Homeowners’ Association (HOA) Board of Directors has the responsibility to ensure that homeowners are in compliance with our HOA covenants. It has come to the attention of the Board that a number of Winship Farms homeowners are renting out their homes (or rooms in a home) for short term rentals on Airbnb. The Board wants to remind all homeowners that short-term leasing is not permitted in our subdivision. Any homeowner listing their home (or rooms in a home) for a short-term rental through Airbnb, VRBO, or any other short term rental site must take down the posting immediately and cease these rentals.
Second, the Board wants to remind homeowners that our covenants have specific requirements relating to leasing of homes in our subdivision. You can find these leasing requirements in the covenants in Article VIII Section 33, Leasing. One of the key requirements is that homeowners must apply for either (a) a Leasing Permit or (b) a Hardship Leasing Permit. You can find a copy of the covenants on the web site of our Homeowners’ Association property management company (Douglas Property Management). Use the following link to access this website:
https://vms.dpm-re.com/
You can also view the covenants at the Winship Farms website: www.winshipfarms.com
I want to thank all homeowners for your continuing cooperation to keep our neighborhood one of the best in Cobb County.
Regards,
Chip Oudt
President
Winship Farms HOA Board of Directors

March 2024
March is here and Spring is around the corner!
March is a great time to do Spring clean up in your yard:
Crepe Myrtles that have overgrown their space can be pruned back when the branches hang over house roofs or cover a large area of your grass prohibiting the grass to grow under it. Just observe what landscapers have done in Winship Farms and other locations and follow their lead.
Now is a great time to tackle the weeds starting to sprout in your gardens, you can also spread a product called Preen which inhibits weed seeds from germinating. It will not kill seeds that have already germinated. This product will need to be spread every few month throughout the growing season. Follow the instructions on the label.
Fertilize your gardens before perennials get large, spread fertilizer around the drip line of the plants or bushes, but not if they are already blooming. Wait and fertilize blooming plants and shrubs after they bloom.
Walk around your yard and make a list of garden chores that you want to tackle before the weather starts getting hot.
Inspect your bushes, prune out dead wood, look under the leaves of bushes to see if there are any white bugs (aphids). Cut off a piece and put in a zip lock bag and take to your garden center to confirm and get help selecting a product to eradicate any pest problems.
Refresh your mulch, it keeps moisture in the ground during the hot dry months.
Make sure that your bird houses are cleaned out and ready to receive a new family. If you don’t own one, try one out. Birds eat unwanted insects! You can also buy lady bugs at Pike nursery and set them out to eat unwanted insects like aphids.
Get out, take a walk, enjoy the sunshine and what nature has to offer!
